GENSAN SHIPYARD AND MACHINE WORKS, INC. (GSMWI) is a member of the Rd Group of Companies. It is located in the southern part of Mindanao, particularly in Siguil, Maasim, Sarangani Province which is only a short drive from the blooming city of General Santos. Now into full scale commercial shipbuilding and ship-repair, this new RD affiliated shipyard is capable of serving the needs of our Asia Pacific industry. GSMWI is home to two floating dry-docks with a combined lifting capacity of 4,000 tons. The shipyard occupies approximately 200,000 square meter area, with vertical and horizontal developments now in their varying stages of completion, such as the construction of shipbuilding ship-repair dry –dock facility, gigantic twin slipways with combined lifting capacity of 10,000 GRT. The expansion of shipyard services provides employment opportunities to local residents and benefiting some 300 workers. Gensan shipyard plays an important role in transforming a once remote locality into a place that now teems with economic activity. Residents are able to augment their earnings from employment in the shipyard. Many trades are drawn to the surrounding area for new business endeavors. On the other hand, local government derives a fair share of property, businessmen and the workers. Progress is within easy reach when all shareholders work in the spirit of cooperation. GENSAN SHIPYARD AND MACHINE WORKS, INC. is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1999 to engage in the construction, purchase, repair and operation of shipyard, floating docks, warehouse and other repair facilities. It opened its doors to commercial ship-repair and shipbuilding business in 2003. Duly registered in Boar of Investments. It holds a Ship-repair and Shipbuilding license from the Maritime Industry Authority of the Philippines. It has since been servicing the repair needs of many fishing, passenger and cargo fleets operating in the southern seas.
