In 1971, a group of physicians led by Dr. Eduardo R. dela Cruz, a cardiologist and former president of the Philippine Medical Association, formed Sydenham Laboratories, Inc. (SLI) with a mission focused on providing effective, efficacious and high-quality pharmaceutical products that doctors can confidently prescribe to their patients and families. SLI derived its name from one of the great British physicians, Dr. Thomas Sydenham, known as the English Hippocrates, the founder of clinical medicine, and an advocate of effective management of illness that emphasized detailed observation and maintained patient records. SLI manufactures oral drug preparations in dosage forms of tablet, capsule, syrup, and powder for suspension. Non-penicillin, penicillin and cephalexin-based products are manufactured in separate buildings with 'clean room hepa-filtered' exclusive air-handling systems to ensure zero-cross contamination. SLI also manufactures food supplements in the above dosage forms. Our Technical Services and Quality Assurance team has analytical equipment and instruments that work with our Production Department to constantly ensure that the finished products adhere to established and validated formulas compliant with Philippine BFAD, United States and British Pharmacopeia's standards.
